POLICE in Burnley Wood have been targeting drug users in the community following tip-offs from residents.
A number of drugs warrants have been executed, with a 38-year-old woman, of Springfield Road, arrested and cautioned after being found with a Class C drug.

Tony Fallows (32), of Parkinson Street, was charged with the abstraction/use without authority of electricity and is to appear at Burnley Magistrates' Court on August 4th; Jason Wooller (45), of Dall Street, was charged with being concerned in the production of cannabis, possession of ecstasy with intent to supply, possession of amphetamine with intent to supply and possession with intent to supply cannabis resin and is to appear at Burnley Magistrates' Court on July 30th; and a 69-year-old male, of Fair View Road, is on police bail for supplying class C drugs.

PC John Fisher said: "These are all significant finds and we are grateful that concerned members of the community come forward with information regarding drugs in the area and we hope this continues. I hope the action reassures members of the community we are listening to their information and taking action to tackle their concerns.

"I also hope it sends a clear warning to other offenders. Drug-related crime is not welcome in our local communities and neither the residents nor police in Burnley will tolerate it."

PC Fisher added that links with the community play an important part in the fight against crime and, in Burnley Wood, residents are playing a major role in helping the police improve quality of life.

"I would urge people to continue coming forward with information and I would ask those who have information but have not yet come forward with it to have the confidence to do so," he said.

"There are many ways in which they can do that – by speaking to their Neighbourhood Policing Officer, by calling their local station or if they prefer by contacting Crimestoppers free and anonymously. Every call really does count as we have seen time and time again recently, particularly here in Burnley."
