STONEYHOLME Primary School triumphed at Old Trafford as they scooped the top prize in the 2008 Asda Kwik Cricket Lancashire County finals.
Lancashire's Glen Chappell presented the children with their trophy, after they finished top of 30 other schools.

Stoneyholme and Heasandford represented Burnley after winning in the local heats, and Stoneyholme continued to excel on the day, scoring 275, 296 and 305 with fantastic performances from brothers Ikram and Usman Ali and Ahzaaz Khan.

Heasandford were beaten by Kelbrook Primary, as Stoneyholme stormed through to the semi-finals, where, after a tricky start, they went on to defeat St Andrew's by 21 runs.

Mohammed Ali, Community Cricket Coach for Burnley Council said: "The tension in the final was unbearable, we were so anxious for our team.

"Things really didn't go to plan to start with, and we lost a lot of wickets, but they battled on, and the Ali brothers were the heroes of the match.

"Their superb bowling and fielding skills won Burnley the trophy, it was such a proud day."

For budding young cricketers, Burnley Council are running a cricket camp throughout August at Burnley Cricket Club, for boys and girls between 8-12 years old.
