Golden wedding couples donate gifts to hospice

Three kind-hearted couples celebrating their golden wedding anniversaries donated nearly £1,800 to Pendleside Hospice.

Anne and David Buck and Frank and Elaine Pilkington, of Burnley, and Raymond and Winifred Johnson, of Nelson, asked friends and relatives to make a contribution to the charity’s work instead of buying them gifts to mark their special day.

Mr and Mrs Pilkington celebrated their anniversary with a gathering of family and friends at Ighten Leigh Social Club a few days after Mr and Mrs Buck got together with family and friends for their special day.

Mr and Mrs Johnson celebrated with a party at Rosehill House in Burnley and were joined by around 40 friends and family.

All three couples said they had had a wonderful time marking their golden day, and were pleased to have raised their donations.
