LETTER: Thanks to those who helped create new Towneley landscape
Let no one forget the Lib Dems, including our MP Gordon Birtwistle, who was leader of the council at the time, led the opposition to the site of the new Unity College and the development of the site of the old school to return it to parkland.
Their opposition delayed the building of the super school, and cost the council tax payers of Lancashire hundreds of thousands of pounds as they forced the matter to a wasteful public inquiry.

Former MP Peter Pike, former council leader Stuart Caddy and former LCC Cabinet member for schools Marcus Johnstone should take great pride in delivering a fantastic school and new open space for the people of the borough.
Future generations will be thankful to those who contributed and those who didn’t should hang their heads in shame and get off their latest bandwagon.
